"Black Magic"

A cat’s a curious creature
A mystery wrapped up in fur
One moment they may want to bite you
The next they lay down and purr

They have a magic about them
A sorcery all of their own
They rarely lose their composure
Or get knocked down off their throne

A cat’s a fascinating feline
No two are ever the same
They bewitch the casual observer
And may rise quickly to fame

They enchant you with their cuteness
They beguile you with their charm
Beware of watching one on YouTube
Without first setting your alarm!

A cat’s an alluring animal
With most mesmeric eyes
Their gaze can cast a spell on you
As well as hypnotize

Their favorite hocus-pocus
Is claiming they’re not fed
But if you fall for that trick
They’ll eat until they’re dead!

A cat’s an inquisitive critter
A nosy busy-body
They’ll get into any bag or box
That happens to be free

If you leave a paper on the ground
Be sure it will be crushed
And if you think a table’s safe
You just misplaced your trust

A cat’s a compelling companion
You never know what they’ll do
Each day is a unique adventure
A chance to learn something new

If you ever want to adopt one
Just know this from the start
There’s no cure from their spell
Once it’s worked out its dark art
