I wanted to paint a companion piece for “Morning Watch” and chose this seascape because of the brilliant oranges.  Both paintings are calm and quiet and both went so smoothly it surprised me, although the clouds were a bit of a challenge in this one.  I actually had fun with the water texture and felt a freedom in my style that I haven’t felt in the past.  It was another great reminder that my paintings can be realistic without having to be “picture perfect!”
