Last year I did a small series of paintings inspired by Newport, Rhode Island.  The two seascapes were two of my most challenging paintings to date.  I had to repaint the water multiple times before being satisfied with it.  In contrast, this painting flowed so smoothly and effortlessly that it was completed in record time!  I loved the simplicity of the scene but was still surprised by how simply everything came together.
