Here’s what the artist had to say about this artwork:
For Good Friday, I wanted to do a painting with a bit of an Easter theme.  Sara showed me a photo she had taken of the old Lambertville Outlet Lock and I thought it would be neat to add a door and give it a tomb-like feeling.  I actually redid the foreground several times before being satisfied with it.  I wanted the warm, sun-lit path to draw the viewer’s gaze toward the tomb and the mysterious light coming from inside.
