Here’s what the artist had to say about this artwork:

I wanted to paint another broader landscape like “Once Upon a November” and chose this scene because of the dramatic lighting.  The unusual perspective provided a nice challenge and I enjoyed using various tones to achieve a sense of distance.  Sara says I should have changed the rocks in the foreground to sleeping sheep, but I told her if she squints to blur her vision a bit, she can just pretend they’re sheep! lol
