Radiating Grace

This elegant swan drifts serenely along the Delaware Canal at Washington Crossing. The setting sun illuminates its tail feathers with a soft, translucent glow. Warm, amber water radiates outward in ripples that catch the day’s fading light.

It is said swans mate for life. I don’t know if that’s true, but there’s been a pair living on the canal at Washington Crossing for quite some time.  They’re creatures of such grace and beauty that it was a delight to paint them. I enjoyed the challenge of capturing the movement in the water and the translucent glow of the feathers.
